The New Chocolate Experience
El Rey Netherlands came to be through collaboration between Paul Zirkzee and Mariana de La Rosa. Paul discovered the Venezuelan cacao at a tasteful ice cream maker, where he developed his enthusiasm for the new experience of chocolate right after tasting it. Because the taste differed from the taste we all know, he saw all new interesting flavor combinations. After a tasting with Mariana, who has known the product for a long time, it was quite clear: By using unique beans, many more flavors can be found in cocoa than could ever be imagined!

El Rey for Fair-Trade
There is no accounting for taste, as well as the right combinations. We invite many flavor specialists to think about this and everyone to share their experiences, so that these beautiful chocolate origins are brought to light. We hope through this, farmers who have a good position in the market thanks to the cooperatives in Venezuela acquire a worthy and proud livelihood, now and in the future.
The end goal is to help this fair distribution in the cacao-chain earn a bigger share in the market.
Mariana
De La Rosa
Mariana was educated in Venezuela as a food technologist and then contributed nine years to the production processes of several large international companies. In 2015 she decides to take a new path and specializes in Venezuelan fine food chocolate. She has direct contact with everyone in the chain, from the farmers on the plantations in Venezuela to the Dutch buyers of fine food chocolate.

Paul
Zirkzee
Paul, after living in Italy for 4 years, started with the import of ingredients for traditional ice cream. First he did this under the name Gelato Solutions, but later the name IJswinkel.nl turned out to be easier to pronounce. He has now been active with his wholesaler for 6 years and is still enthusiastic about trying new products in ice cream and patisserie.
